PRAYERS FOR PEACE IN TIBET
Sun 13 April 2008, 2:30-3:30pm, Tibetan Peace Garden, opposite the Imperial War Museum
Dear all,
Recent events in Tibet have led to many responses internationally - most with an understandably political agenda. We would like to invite you to join us and local faith groups to show spiritual support to our brothers and sisters in Tibet. We are organising an inter-faith event in the Tibet Peace Garden (blessed by the Dalai Lama himself in 1999) on Sunday 13 April 2008 from 2:30-3:30pm. Similar very inspiring events have taken place in New York, Delhi and other cities.
We would like you to join us in saying prayers together, singing or chanting mantras. These can be in any language and from any faith, but must be simple enough for those unfamiliar with them to join in.
Jamyang Buddhist Centre and St. Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation and Peace will be hosting the event, but any help from other groups is very welcome!
The event will last for approximately 1 hr, and we would be grateful if you could do the following:
· Email the invitation below to as many people as you can reach
· Identify a simple prayer, song, mantra or chant from your tradition of up to 5 min duration
· Please nominate someone to lead your contribution and send us your texts for songs/mantras/chants etc. by Thurs 10 April, 12 noon, so that we can print them for distribution at the event
Please send your responses and queries to: peacegarden@...
We very much hope you will support this event and look forward to seeing you on Sunday 13 April!
The Jamyang team,
(Alison, Sally, Martin)
