are we as ratepayers getting value for the money we pay in council
tax, for the amount that we are asked for in the precept set by Beal
Parish Council. Are you aware that this the budget for 2007/08 has
been set at £16,000 but when I studied the proposed accounts to enable
the 'council' arrive at this sum, it amazed me that out of the total
£16,000 budgeted, £2ooo was a reserved amount to cover expenses for
conferences etc, but alarmingly the bill for salaries and
administration amounts to approx £12,000. Is there any justification
that we should spend some 75% of the councils income in this way. At
thefebruary council meeting (tuesday 7th) it was decided that after
the forthcoming local elections in May, that the new council proceed
too examine the possibility of them becoming a'Quality Council' giving
them even more powers over the usage of our council tax.
It is their intention to arrange a public meeting to sound out the
reaction of parishioners of this proposal.
Keep your eyes peeled, and dont miss going to the public meeting when
it is called, so that the wishes of the parish can be truly heard.
