Hi Trevor

Yes that's correct.

She would be eligable to play in the full girls team and we are looking for a couple of players, as we have some new kits going spare. We have around 12 Girls from the surrounding villages, I dare say your daughter will know someone who plays for us.

They train on a Monday night 18:00 - 19:00 at Eggborough Power station, behind the social club. Then on a Saturday morning at 10:00 - 11:00 at Hensall Primary School.

It costs £1 per week and she will get a full strip to look after. Most matches are played on a Saturday morning at 10:30 and tend to be in the Selby area if we play away.

Your best person to contact is Chris Hook 01977 663623, as he oversees the girls team.

We have just broke up for Xmas and will be starting again around 7th Jan, I'll be updating the web-site over the next couple of days.

Hope to see you and your daughter there soon, you will be warmly welcomed.

Regards,

Lee.

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the list,

The village school closed a long while ago I'm afraid - long before I
came to the village - and has sinced been converted into private
flats. I am sure someone will know when this was done.

Most kids in Beal go to Kellington Primary School in the next village
of which I am the vice-chair on the Goveners board so let me know if
want a prospectus etc. They also run a pre-school nursery which
introduces the kids to the school meaning their introduction into the
primary school is very smooth.

In these days obviously the choice of schools is down to the parent
and you have many other schools such as Chapel Haddlesly, Cridling
Stubbs, or Knottingley to choose from, but you will have to apply to
these as we are out of their catchment area. Beal is in the main
catchment area for Kellington Primary School, meaning by default any
child living in Beal will have a place reserved at Kellington School.

If you want any detailed info about the school - as I say, let me know w.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Trevor.

Depending on how old your child /ren are you may also want to
consider which secondary school you wish them to attend after they
move from Primary, in which case you will need to establish this
with the relevant school.

I take it you are moving in to the area, in which case, if your
child is interested in football I can recommend a great football
club for children as young as 4 up to 10 years old. Both boys and
girls play in mixed teams. There is also an all girls team for over
8's. It's called Whitley Wolves and our web site is

Putting my Village Hall Committee Hat on .....

The event was dropped due to a lack of interest really both locally
and nationally.

I originally suggested the event and created a vote on this site to
gauge interest but I was the only one who voted !!! When the event was
announced back in March we all felt that we had to register for this
as when it got to the anniversary if we were not putting anything on
people would ask questions.

With the successful summer naval display at Southampton, England
thumping the Aussies at cricket and Sven getting us to the World Cup
Finals I would have thought the nation would be hungry for more. This
was not the case though and sadly the event received absolutely no
airtime in the build up at all. We were dependent on the national
media building up the event as we were intending to be the only Parish
Council in the area to light a beacon.

With zero interest we then found that the official beacon was going to
cost around £1800 which clearly we could not justify. (OK we could of
made our own bonfire - but with it being so close to bonfire night we
really did not feel the turnout would warrant the effort). A lot of
time and effort is made for these events by volunteers who give up
their own time and so we all felt that having also just had the oompah
night we would focus our efforts on the psychic night and the x-mas
parties where we know the turnout would warrant the effort.

Unfortunately we missed the deadline for the printers on the
newsletter but please remember when the villlage hall committee do run
an event we always do post flyers.

Hope this answers your questions.

Cheers,

Trevor Knight.

I cannot see any mention of this recent event anywhere.Did it happen?
Why was no reminder given of the event? Was it a success and did
anyone attend? I see it was in the Oct Beal News but as this was
delivered on 26th the information was a little obsolete.
The belief that *better late than never* does not apply to these
event
notices.

At only £5 a head (which includes a glass of wine or beer) you can't

OAP's are only £2.50 which is extremely good value for the

tickets in advance as we had around 60 people last year turn up on the
door. We obviously only have a limited number of places so please book
now to avoid disappointment.

Doors open at 7:30pm - show starts at 8ish.

My daughter and some of her friends want to organise a Christmas
Pantomine at the Village Hall....

Details will soon be posted but do you guys know if anyone has any
experience in organising or running such a venture.

We could do with any experience in acting/singing/dancing/costume/play
writing etc.

The village hall committee will make the Village Hall available for
all rehersals so it is just a case of someone organising and running
the group etc.

Please let me know if you want to help out,

Cheers,

Trevor.

Just received a response from our Clerk,

"There is no availble plots of land owned by Parish Councils in the
area. Kellington does not own any land, neither does Birkin, Beal has
some land which is let at the present time."

Lost Cat - On Thursday 23rd June a British Shorthair cat went missing
from the Ings Lane area. She has unusual colouring being beige, grey
and white and unfortunately was not wearing a collar. If anyone has
seen her, please contact Beal 670910.
