Hi Everyone,
Just a quick reminder that Bi Cymru/Wales will be having a stall with all things
Bi related in Wales and a lot of UK stuff too at Cardiff Mardi Gras on Saturday
29th August.
If you're there please pop along and say hello.
If you can spare an hour or so to help on the stall that'd be great too.
We'll be there 12 noon until 5 or 6 pm depending on when the drunk factor kicks
in!
We'll also be launching 2 new local Bi groups we've set up - Bi Swansea and Bi
Cardiff there and full details of meetings will be available by then.
We hope to see you there

Hi everyone,
Just a quick heads up about what's happening with Bi Cymru/Wales.
We've been incredibly busy recently and Swansea Pride was more successful for us
than we could ever have hoped for!
We've finally written the membership form for Bi Cymru/Wales so all members will
need to fill in the form and return it by post or hand it to a committee member,
with membership fee (don't worry annual full membership is only £1 and it
basically pays for the annual elections process and newsletter) You can find the
form in the files section of this yahoo group, email us for a copy or it's be on
our website very soon.
If you want to give it to us in person we'll be at Cardiff Mardi Gras on the
Saturday 29th August with a stall until about 5:30 or 6pm so please come and say
hi or come and help out on the stall anyway.
Please feel free to send the membership form to anyone you think may be
interested and there's an organisation membership category too!
On a completely different note we're in the process of getting committees
together to set up bi groups in Swansea and Cardiff. Bi Cymru/Wales doesn't set
up groups ourselves, but we help get people together who want to run local bi
groups anywhere in Wales and offer support to make it happen. Enough people have
expressed an interest in setting up groups in Cardiff and Swansea to make it
happen. If you're interested in being on the committee or helping out with
either of these groups please let us know. We'd also like to hear from anyone
who wants to set up groups elsewhere in Wales.
We hope to see many of you at BiCon 2009 in Worcester, 20th - 23rd August, and
please let us know if you're coming and want to meet up. If not we hope to see
you at Cardiff Mardi Gras.
Yours in pride

Hi Ele, thanks for your message, just to say that UNISON are only doing the Saturday too due to member's commitments and funding, so you are not alone!
See you there

Hi Steph,
I'm glad you found it useful. I think it went really well for us and the stall was so noticeable that people saw it from a distance, which is great for bi awareness.
Only one incident with an angry "I used to be bi so you won't be this way for ever, I pity you" person, which is brilliant going.
We will be at Cardiff Mardi Gras, but on the Saturday only, as it's the most expensive Pride in the UK for charity/community group stalls, so there's no way the Bis at Prides project, which is funding the stalls, can afford both days!
I look forward to seeing you there too.
Take care

Hi everyone,
Just a quick reminder that Bi Cymru/Wales are having a stall at Swansea Pride
tomorrow (Saturday 27th June) so if you're around please come over and say
hello, we'd love to see some of your great friendly faces there.
Take care
Ele
Hi everyone,
I hope everyone's doing well.
Thanks to the Bis at prides project and a wonderful person called Saxey we're
going to have Bi Cymru/Wales stalls at Swansea Pride on Saturday 27th June and
Cardiff Mardi Gras on Saturday 29th August!
Even with the project covering the fees we can't afford to be at Cardiff Mardi
Gras both days, unfortunately, but I'm sure people will be wandering around the
field wearing Bi Cymru/Wales T-shirts on the Sunday.
We would love some of you lovely people to come and help me and Kay run the
stalls and chat to people at the events, so if you can help out, even if it's
just for an hour, please let us know when and we'll plan a stall rota. Don't
worry someone who knows what's going on will be on the stall with you, to let
you know what's happening and answer any awkward or difficult questions. It'll
just be great to have some more friendly faces helping out.
If you have any brainwaves of things we can do on the stall (other than Bi
Cymru/Wales leaflets, BCN and UK bi related information) please let us know.
We'd love supporters to get involved in this and help us make the stalls as
colourful, attractive and fun as possible.
And if you can't help out or don't have any ideas please pop along and say hello
anyway, and we'll have the official membership forms ready and available by then
too for you to fill in.
Take care

Hi everyone,
Just a quick reminder that the Bi workplace issues in Wales survey needs to be
completed by next Friday, 8th May at the latest.
It's a quick pilot survey, which should only take you about 10 minutes to fill
in to identify what bisexual workplace issues are in Wales and to see if there
is a need for further research in this area. This is only going out to Bi
Cymru/Wales supporters at the moment, as it's just a pilot, but if you know of
anyone who's bi in Wales and would like to fill this in please let them know.
It can be downloaded from the documents section of our website:
www.bicymru.btik.com or from the files section of this yahoo group
Please email back your completed survey to bicymru@... or as this is a
partnership project with Stonewall Cymru you can email directly to
eleanor.hicks@....
All surveys are treated as confidential and will be disassociated from your
email address, which will not be saved, as soon as they arrive, to ensure
complete annonymity.
Many thanks

Hi everyone,
Stonewall Cymru and Bi Cymru/Wales are running a pilot of a bisexual workplace
survey. The survey is on our website www.bicymru.btik.com or in the files
section of this group. This aims to identify whether there are specific issues
for bisexual people in the workplace, whether there is a difference in bisexual
inclusion at work and how experiences compare with those of Lesbian and Gay
people. This phase of the survey needs to be completed by 2nd April and is just
a pilot. Please pass this survey to anyone you think may be interested, who
self-identifies as bisexual in Wales.
This is confidential. All answers will be processed anonymously. If you email
the survey back to this email address it will be passed on to Stonewall Cymru
for processing without your email address or any details attached, as a pack of
survey responses. If you would rather complete the survey on paper please post
it to: Ele Hicks
Stonewall Cymru
Transport House
1 Cathedral Road
Cardiff
CF11 9SB.
Please do comment on the survey questions and design as well,as this is a pilot
for more extensive research in future.
Many thanks

Hi everyone,
Just a quick email to the Bi Cymru/Wales mailing list.
Dates for 3 of the main UK Bi events have been confirmed for this year.
They are:
Brighton Bifest - 7th March
London Bifest - 16th May
Bicon 2009 - Worcester - 20th-24th August
More info on the bifests can be found at www.bifest.org and on BiCon
at www.bicon2009.org.uk
Bifests are 1 day events with workshops and usually evening social
spaces to discuss and explore aspects of bisexuality and related topics.
BiCon is a weekend annual event with a wide range of workshops and
evening entertainments.
As with everything else in the Bi community they are run by volunteers
who give up the time and energy to do them and are funded by the entry
prices, which are kept as low as possible.
As always details will also be listed in Bi Community News, the only
UK bisexual magazine www.bicommunitynews.co.uk
I will definately be at BiCon so if you're planning to go please feel
free to come and chat to me and find a friendly face.
On the Bi Cymru/Wales front we have recently been approached by
Stonewall Cymru to carry out a mini survey on bisexual issues in the
workplace, so I'll be contacting you all again soon with details of
that, so get your thinking caps on.
We're also planning a Wales bifest, if we can get either a free venue
or some funding together and would love some help getting it sorted
and on the day if anyone is interested.
Please let us know what else you think we could/should be doing
(bearing in mind we have zero funding at the moment) and with any
offers of volunteering or help.
I hope to see you soon.

Hi everyone,
In answer to the question that keeps getting posted here, yes Bi Wales
does definitely exist. I'm the treasurer Ele.
We're just so busy trying to keep ontop of the requests etc. we've had
since we set up, we've been a bit bad on communication, but that
should improve soon.
I'm hoping to have an informal meet and drink in Cardiff in late
october for anyone that's interested.
We could do with some help to run things, even little bits of help
would be much appreciated.
Is anyone coming to the Bi Activists weekend in Manchester this
weekend? I am so it'd be good to put faces to names if anyone else is.
Take care

For anyone thinking of coming to BiCon this year - a big long weekend
away for bis, our partners, friends and allies - you might want to note
that the deadline for the cheaper booking prices is coming up soon on
25th July. Get those cheques in the post! :)
It goes to a different city in the UK each year; this time it's in
Leicester.

Fingers crossed this message does not fall on stoney ground.
Hey there, and welcome!
Hope you're doing well, and that Snowdonia isn't as cold as I remember
it being this time of year. As I suppose you've realised, there isn't
much activity on here yet, but we're hoping the group will pick up soon
as we encourage our Facebook membership to also join here. Perhaps
there'll be someone nearby on there. If not then worry not, you've
still got us lot scattered around south and mid Wales to talk to!
Thanks for joining, and welcome again!
