Dear Peter,
Sounds a disaster! Good that you are enjoying your car. I don't know
where you are located, but there are many good specialists up and
down the country. Some one on the board could probably help with your
air con problem. Please amplify.
kind regards
Robert.

crossmember as the steering box has come away from it, I had it done
at a garage which turned out to be a cowboy outfit, they fitted a
secondhand 1 4 £450. I later learnt that i could get a brand new 1 4
£250 & have it fitted £100 labour, its my fault that i didnt check 4
1 myself beforehand, I just fell for that car & wanted it on the road
as soon as possible. They still took 3 weeks to do it. They scratched
up the sides of it,got grease-black grease all over th interior,
steering wheel, gearshift(auto), handbrake, dashboard, seatbelts,
carpets and it took me nearly 2 mths 2 get it clean, Yet it is still
not 100% clean. They messed up the electrics. so I had on E/W, C/L,
A/C. I still dont have A/C. And the xtra 2speed cooling fan does not
work, yet luckily the car never overheats. They were also supposed 2
fit new brakes. I did them myself after taking my car home with me
which was all filthy & smelt sweaty.
