Dear sirs,
Good day to you. I own a 1981 628csi(euro) here in
the Philippines. Its a tropical country for those of
you who are not familiar with it. Hot and humid but
the weather is starting to cool for the christmas
season.
My problem is that the car cranks but wont start.
hence giving me too much embarrassment in front of my
date and the people walking by.
what i do is (i accidentally discovered this method) i
take off the lid of the airflow meter and manually
move the needle to the middle of the arc. then i ask
someone to start it for me and it starts right away.
Doing this alone is another story. I use a short metal
cylinder that i wedge against the inside of the
airflow meter so as to hold the needle in place(middle
of the arc).
now after all the embarrassment, i thought i should do
something about it and started tinkering with the
mixture and the needle's spring-like coil in the
middle. also i turned the screw in the airflow meter.
the one that allows unmetered air to come in. plus the
valve that controls the idling.
now im confused. i cant get the right mixture and i
now have emmission problems. i still have my start up
problems. I sometimes get to start in the morning
after about 3 seconds of cranking.
help!!!!!
