Dallas Larry,

What is the location of this particular pick and pull?  I usually go to...I
guess it's Grand Prarie at Davis and Jefferson Streets.

Hello Bernie

  Pull the cover off and inspect the belt.  I do this with my 94 Honda every
couple of years and it still looks good with the original belt at 115K
check for cracking or serious deterioration, the teeth.   I had a Toyota Celica
Belt fail at 55k, with half the teeth missing on the belt when it failed.  When
I told the garage I was able to nurse the care home from Mid-Vermont to Hartford
Connecticut, He looked at me with astonishment.  It was out of time but it got
me home shy of 5 miles.  You call,  Don't do it you can toast the valves and
consider the rest the of motor toast. Do it yourself and save some cash.  Just
jump in there and do do it.  I have had my 1986 BMW 535i coming on 10 years and
have yet to bring it to a short. I was able to think things out and fix it
myself.  This is a great car car and love it.   This is a rust free car that
spent at least ten years before coming to Connecticut and still is rust free.  I
only drive it from April to October.

BTW, there are 2 E28's in that yard with power Recaro seats.

Black.  One is in much better shape that the other one, the white car has VERY
good seats.

They charge $40 USD per seat.

I haven't pulled one from a car in a long time.  I know using a battery you can
move the seats back to get to the bolts.

Back seats to match are both near mint.  They want 30 for each part, (30 for
back of rear seat and 30 for bottom)

I once flipped an E12 on its roof after dismantling to get the drive shaft, etc.
out. My neighbours love me.
I think you can also get that bolt out with a crowsfoot wrench. I still have a
few left over from my small block CHEBBY days. Pretty sure four feet of
extensions and you really do need a wobbly socket. I have a Snap OFF wobbly that
i use on the very end.
Speaking of dragging. I am building a 71 coupe(hoping to stuff an V12 in,looking
for a wrecked 750 or so.) which will eat your E30.;-)

thought. The Bavarian DEFENCE BOYS(Senior Six(Sicks)) might have a FAQ on
removing that pesky bolt. Everybody has trouble with that one the first 20 or 30
times....

Believe it or not,I found the car in a small town in Oklahoma. I know in the
states it is hard to get information,and in my imediate area,I own the oldest
BMW's. I am looking at another e28 that is in better shape than my Td,(86
eta)..old man says 350 dollars,clean title,and around 177k miles,ran 4 years
ago.
Before I jump though,I want to cover my investments,so that means the Td has to
run. LOL
 Anyhow, I do appreciate it,and will continue prowling around the sites until I
hit upon a good source.

Finally got my hands ona 524Td! Car is clean,and over the years the prior owner
was so caring,he even documented the fuel,and cost every time he went to the
station...since he bought the car in 85.
  All looks good,and I have one issue stopping me in getting the lil' beast to

I have been working on the e34,and e30s for about 3 years now..know the cars
pretty well and can do almost anthing to a M20 engine,but this time I am
stumped.

yeah,that reminds me of a clunk I had and it was in that strut top
area. I think it was broken up there. twas an e30, but....I had to
have the thing welded but so far its ok

I think th best thing to do is jack the front end up and off the wheels.  Take a
strong bar and move different parts to see where the loose is.  I just found I
have to replace an upper control arm.

check the upper strut tower bearing, push on the wheel well to see it anything
moves on the tower. you may have to re-tighten.

sway bar link?

check the upper strut tower bearing, push on the wheel well to see it anything
moves on the tower. you may have to re-tighten.

1987 535i: Ever since I did a full suspension replacement (Bilsteins), the front
right area has developed a clunking sound. I've checked the cartridge, the
springs, the lower and upper control arm bushings and found nothing that would
cause the sound. I do know that one of the exhaust hangers is broken but I can't
