The Waterloo Parents & Carers Network (formerly known as the Waterloo
Parents & Providers Forum) aims to encourage and enable greater
parental involvement in the Waterloo neighbourhood through
participation and information. Now in its thrid year the WPCN
produces a free bi-monthly newsletter with a day by day What's On
guide to the Waterloo area, including special events and places to go
and have fun. For the months not covered by a full newsletter we
publish a two page What's On Guide. We also run a local Baby and You
Group for parents with babies from 0 -18 months at The Community
Room, Buffer Bear Nursery every Wednesday 1.30 – 4pm all year round.
Our cinema club Cinema-tastic provides free tickets for great films
at the National Film Theatre. We also aim to encourage closer co-
operation between providers, identifying areas where provision can be
improved and ensure we are consulted on all relevant major
redevelopments in the area. We are currently involved in the
consultations on the Ufford Street Park Playground redevelopment and
the planned redevelopment of the Min Street Adventure Playground.
WPCN also hold quarterly network meetings (the next meeting will be
held at the new Coin Street Nursery on Stamford Street on the 12th
October) for members where you can have your say about the things
that matter to you. The parents involved in the network help to shape
future services in Waterloo by giving feedback, comments, suggestions
and ideas. Your views matter to us. It is also a great way to meet
other parents and to find out what is happening in the area.
Childcare is provided by Coin Street nursery by prior arrangement.
We are a unique local parent led network with a wealth of information
and advice. We hope that you will join us at a network meeting, to
meet and contribute ideas. All parents and carers who live in the
Waterloo area or who access services in the area can join the WPCN.
To join the WPCN and receive our free newsletter or for further
information please contact us at waterlooparents@... or call
us at 020 7633 9291 and leave a message and someone from the group
will call you back.
We currently have a vacancy on our Steering Committee. This is a
great chance for an active mum/dad to make a real difference in the
local community and learn new skills. If anyone is interested please
could they e-mail directly at Rebekah@... so discuss.
