Re: [Bournemouth Bus Station] Re: First and happiest memories

The lady who ran the Rossmore Bus Company (which operated the Albert Road route)
was Louie Dingwell Foott. The service ran for 50 years, much to the annoyance of
Hants & Dorset! During that time the company got through 55 buses, all
previously used elsewhere and many were from the midlands. At the age of 80 Miss
Foott sold the business in 1973 to Cosy Coaches who ran it for another 7 or 8
years. Miss Foott did keep racehorses and exercised them on Sandbanks Beach. I
know the area well as my wife lived in Curtis Road (off Victoria Raod).

I do remember Albert Road. On the bus theme still, I seem to remember
there was a privately-run bus service which started in Albert Road
(quite old, red single-decker I think), owned by a lady called Mrs
Dingwall who also owned race horses. Don't think I made that
up....amazing where these memories come from! I went to school at St
Peter's in Lower Parkstone. Brilliant school, great days. Sadly,
that's also no longer in existence!
