The change of livery happened in the early 70's when the National Bus
Company merged W&D into H&D. I think there was a plan to avoid having 2
operators adjoining with the same livery hence the combined operation
adopting W&D's red.
To answer your other question, http://bristols.fotopic.net/ - as mentioned
on here recently (thanks for the full URL by the way) shows the main types
operating from Bournemouth bus station in the 60's, mainly Lodekkas of many
varieties - LD, LDL, FS, FL and FLF. Most of the single deckers there were
for the Swanage route with cut away backs for the Sandbanks ferry which
were, I think, mainly LL's with full front bodies though there were some
LS's and MW's including down graded coaches on other services and RE's began
to appear especially DP ones on limited stop routes.
