Re: [Bournemouth Bus Station] Hants & Dorset Bus of fifties / sixties

Hants & Dorset buses ran in green livery until after Wilts & Dorset was fully
merged (c.1972). H&D had owner W&D since 1964. The red was apparently a goodwill
gesture to Wilts & Dorset staff! As far as I recall the red scheme was continued
until H & D was renamed Wilts & Dorset. This period was very confusing as
ownership went from private company to the Tillings Group to the nationalised
industry and eventually to deregulation when W&D was resurrected in 1983 and the
H&D name disappeared. The basic red livery was retained but with white & black
trim.

Wilts and Dorset was definitely in red and you would see the odd one each day
arrive at the bus station. I am afraid that I cannot help you on the dates
regarding H and D being absorbed into the W and D.

Hope this helps you clear your mind and sanity !! 8-)

Subject: [Bournemouth Bus Station] Hants & Dorset Bus of fifties / sixties

Am I right in thinking that I would have seen green liveried Bristol K
type buses in Hants & Dorset livery around the late 50's to mid 60's??
I need to know if I'm imagining it. I know they ran Bristol FLF's but
did they have K's in operation as well?? Also, would I have seen red coloured
H & D buses or is my memory playing more tricks??
Any help appreciated.
