Hi all
Having read all the comments so far, I though I might as well have a go!
I'm sure that Bournemouth Corporation buses had no external advertising
until around 1967 when ads appeared on some trolleybuses (I know that Red
Barrel beer and Sanatogen were used). From the couple of photos I've seen
the ads appear to be temporary paper signs, not painted on to the bus. I
think that only a few buses had any advertising - as late as the last day of
trolleybuses in April 1969 none of the 17 buses in the final procession had
any adverts. I don't recall seeing any photos of the motor buses with ads -
if in doubt leave them off, it looks much smarter!

Morning all from here on the sunny west coast of Canada,
Bournemouth Corporation did not have any ads on their buses that I recall
until 1959 when I came to Canada. That is why our buses always looked so
smart and clean I thought.
Referring to my book on Bournemouth Trams and Buses by C.G.Roberts, all of
the pictures in the book without exception, show no advertising on the
buses. The book was published by Okayed press in 1972.
I have a photo of Bournemouth Square from 1966 which shows that there are
no adverts on the Corporation buses at all.
If anybody would like me to send them one (in colour) e-mail me off list and
I will send it to you.
