I do remember them exactly as you have described them. There were actually
three locations for them. One was located at East overcliff drive, one at
Southbourne overcliff drive and one between Durley Chine and Exeter Road.
I was looking for a picture of them in my books but alas no luck !!

Talking of Bournemouth-related yellow items, does anyone remember
the Corporation yellow cliff lifts, that used to run side by side -
i.e. one rose as one descended - which were painted a very smart
yellow with the corporation crest on the side? I vividly recall as
a boy being fascinated by their tracks - 'a very steep railway' as I
remarked at the time, apparently. Most importantly, are they still
there or have they fallen victim to local government cuts?
