I own VRU 124J ex H&D Fleetline which used to operate on Bournemouth -
Poole routes. Has anyone any idea of where i can get some H&D fleet
names. Shes recently been painted??
Just been looking up events and I found this one that may be of intrest
to the group:
The run will start at 8.45am from Kings Park, Bournemouth, which has
plenty of overnight parking and café facilities. The route, through 5
counties is around 90 miles of scenic countryside and rural delight
taking in Salisbury, across the Plain to Warminster (both with official
stops, commentary and refreshments), Frome, Bradford on Avon, to end
with a static display at Lansdown Park & Ridet

Hi All
Leanne and I have made a tough decision and are having to sell 262
(GRU 162V) due to cash flow at the mo. Have spoken to Simon about the
possiblity of buying her and he is going to let me know. This is not a
decision that either of us wanted to make but we are going to purchase
another vehicle in the next few months.
If anyone is interested in her contact me through the group. It is a
horrible thing to do and we are both upset and want to see her go to a
good home as we have had some good times on her and used her when we
got married.
Dave and Leanne Hurley.
Hi MIke,
Sorry that I have not gotten back to you sooner. I seem to have a lot going on
at the moment. Glad that you enjoyed the old Bristols.
Thank you for for letting me know.

Hi Matthew,
I see that it was registered between March 2000 and August 2000. I thought that
all Bournemouth plates were either LJ, RU or EL under the old system. That is
why I thought that because it had an FX, I thought that it must have been bought
used.
Would like to see a picture of her.

MFX 175W was originally purchased by Bournemouth Transport, and is a little bit
of a celebrity?
Â
This Fleetline is the last Fleetline to ever have a Gardner engine put in her,
and technically the last Fleetline delivered to Yellow Buses, as 174 & 176 were
delivered before her!
Â
There is a chance that she may go back into Primrose and Plum livery complete
with the crest, but this will be down to the members of the South-West
Preservation Group, and is one of 6 possible liveries (inc Blue Flash!).
Â
To join the South-West Preservation Group, just ask and i will advise how this
is done. We currently have 2 ex-Yellow fleetlines, with a third being added as
we speak, and the option on a Marshall bodied Lymp!

Hi Matthew,
Welcome to the group.
Congratulations on your new purchase.
I see that it was not new to Bournemouth. Where was it first registered in
Dorset ? Is it a 1980 bus ? I was really sorry to see the old primrose yellow
with the maroon band colour scheme change. That is the colour that I grew up
with in the 50's plus of course the green Hants and Dorset. The day the bus
station burned down certainly changed the face of the Square forever. A very sad
day to say the least in my mind.
I was back in Bournemouth last November 2007 and did not like what I saw that
they had done to the Square. I feel that the heart of downtown is no longer
there.
Any chance of a picture of your new purchase ?
Do tell us the history if you know it.

HI David
I believe you are also on SEMG? The last trolley ran on 20
apr 1969. I agree with you, I was there a couple of years ago for the first
time in about 40 yrs having been born in Poole in 1949. The square is now
very poor much nicer when it was full of flowers. The old bus station was
burnt down, I remember the Royal Blues and the ramp up to the hants and
dorset station. Did you go down to see the site of Bournemouth West
station? The old Midland Hotel is still there. Bournemouth Lower Gardens
are still as I remember them with the bandstand and aviary. No one floats
their boats in the stream anymore though, it's all gaming machines now!

John

Could somebody please tell me when the last Bournemouth Corp Trollybuses ran
?
I was already in Canada by the time this happened. When I was last living
there in 1959 I would never have thought that they would one day be removed.
I was in the Square in November 2007 and could not believe how different
that the centre core (The Square) has become. I must say that for me it was
a sad sight.
(Especially not seeing the old bus station)
I realize that this maybe off topic so forgive me !!

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me. I am looking for a front for
a 1976 fleetline ex-bournemouth transport bus. I am searching high and
low and no-one seems able to help me. I am in the process of restoring
the bus and this is the one thing I can't seem to get my hands on. I
was wondering if you have any telephone numbers or web sites that will
help me.
