I’m thinking about a response to the letter perhaps now that I’ve read this. I
haven’t read the letter in the Argus because I only buy in on Thursday for the
jobs and Saturday because, of course, of the Anne Doyle piece.
It is ambiguous as to whether it is serious or not so maybe the response should
be serious and funny simultaneously.
There is an opportunity to write about what a drag it is that the roads are so
congested with cars that it makes it very difficult to get anywhere on a
bicycle. If I ride into work at the height of the rush hour then it takes twice
as long as if I leave 15 minutes earlier.
Cars are really slow things. They are so big that they block the way all the
time and the drivers seem to take an age getting into gear. Their vision is so
poor that frequently they will miss loads of opportunities to cross a junction
simply because they can’t see very well when there is a space.
Etc etc...
