One Sunday, I, my wife and our two young children walked from the King
Alfred centre in Hove to the Palace Pier and back again.
On the stretch of the promenade by the beach huts opposite Grand
Avenue, there are clear warnings written on the tarmac and signs: "No
cycling, maximum penalty £500."
From the King Alfred to the pier and back, I counted no fewer than 100
people flouting this law.
I said to a few of them: "Can't you read the signs?", only to be
greeted by a string of four-letter words.
