Subject: First Match Funding Bids 09-10 - Travel Plan Partnership update.

Dear Colleague

Match Funding Bids – Invitation to Apply.

I have pleasure in announcing that we are opening up a funding process for members of the Travel Plan Partnership.  We are releasing £9,000 to match fund projects that will improve access and promote sustainable forms of transport.  For example, cycle parking, showers, drying rooms, Real time information displays etc.

In order to apply, we will require a brief outline of your project, the benefits this will bring for your employees, and approximate cost.  The application should be no longer than one side of A4 paper.  We will also require your organisations commitment to match fund the implementation of the scheme within three months of the closing date.

Applications must be received by Friday 8th May 2009.

Ideas for projects can be as big or small as you like, bearing in mind the maximum contribution from the council will be £9k between all organisations.

I will be happy to discuss this with you at any point if you want to run ideas past me.

Travel Plan Partnership Meeting – 19th May 2009.

As I mentioned in my last update, the next Travel Plan Partnership meeting will take place on Tuesday 19th May at EDF Energy, Portland Road.  Please find attached your invitation to the meeting, and also a letter introducing the presentation on real time bus and train displays.  Please return your reply slips by Friday 8th May

Walk to Work Week – 27th April to 1st May

This year Brighton & Hove City Council will be celebrating walk to work week between 27th April and 1st May.  After Easter I will be forwarding you some publicity to promote the week to your colleagues.  Part of this will be a competition with many prizes up for grabs, this will be promoted by ourselves in partnership with the NHS and Sussex Sports Partnership.  Please register with Walking Works as soon as possible if you intend to promote the week to colleagues.  They have developed a great website that they will be launching shortly, which your staff will be able to log onto and input how far they’ve walked.  This will enable us to compare how we perform as a local authority area with other local authorities around the country.  Please click the voting button below the menu bar on this email, after you have registered with Walking Works, this will help me keep track of which organisations have signed up to take part.  This is important if your colleagues wish to be entered into the draw to win prizes.

Please keep an eye on your inbox for further information coming soon.

Kind regards

Rob
