Hi all, as part of my job at UWE, I am one of the organising committee of this one day meeting, 'Size Matters?, which is inviting discussion and debate around weight and shape.

It might be of interest to the Womens Representations in the media group as invited speakers include: Dr Meredith Jones (http://mim.iml.uts.edu.au/staff/jones.cfm, author of Skintight- Anatomy of cosmetic surgery). She will be discussing "Weight-loss Surgery and Makeover Culture" in reference to anti-fat media messages.

There is a fee (as with all conference type events like this as it is organised and paid for by UWE so needs to cover costs) but reduced rates for students.
