Re: [britains_floral_garden] Houses

They are a model railway product made by Metcalf. Sadly they no longer do a big range of O gauge products but there are still a few on their website.

I got these already built from the second-hand shelf of a local model railway shop. The beauty of card models rather than plastic is that the printed texture is more variable, less uniform, than plastic (not so 'clean' either), and as you build them, you can build in differences (some with curtains open, some closed etc) so they don't look so false.

The kits are supplied as sheets in a flat pack, these days usually pre-punched, so you just release them and stick them together with UHU or similar. Detail is included, eg Window panes, inner window reveals, sills, curtains, gable ends, capping stones, chimney pots etc all supplied and to be added separately.

Hi Peter

I keep meaning to ask - where you get the wonderful red-brick houses
that you use in your displays?

...And of course, the O gauge houses are technically out of scale with Floral Garden. But it works in practice. Floral garden Scale 1:32 O gauge (7mm to 1ft)...
