Dear Jojanneke,
Ian Evans told me you were planning to go to the Scotland BPGS trip - I'm very
glad though it's a pity your husband can't be there too. We will be a small
select group - only 5 or 6 people, I think. But the countryside is very
beautiful and we should be able to make a worthwhile contribution to galls in
Scotland.
On Thursday 12 July, I shall be travelling up from Sheffield to Inverness by
train - it goes through Edinburgh too. Nairn is about 30 minutes drive from
Inverness and I am hoping for someone to give me a lift. Otherwise I must
investigate buses.
On Monday 16 July I will get the train from Inverness to Edinburgh in time for
the afternoon session on galls. Ian said that probably someone would be able to
drive us to Inverness though it would mean an early start. It will be great for
you to be there too. I have arranged for a room and meals in student
accomodation. If you register for the conference (www.ento07.org.uk) you can
book a room (£28 or £36 B&B) on the University campus. It does mean you have to
pay a day's registration fee (£65, so expensive) but I think they may not allow
you to attend if not (you also get a wine reception on the Monday night!).
Rooms in Edinburgh will be much more expensive than this, I think.
Then, on the Tuesday morning I will get the train from Edinburgh home to
Sheffield.
I have yet to investigate the train times and to get my tickets. When I have, I
can let you know when I will arrive and, if it is possible, it would be nice to
travel together.
Margaret
