Thanks for the help. I will of course send you my records and any others that I come across.
I will be working closely with one of your members, Brian Spooner, whom I believe has many records for V17. Do you already have his data?
I will also be spending time in the near future trawling through the records at SWT, many of which are only on paper. I am aware that there was a gall recorder active during the mid eighties on many SWT sites, probably in tandem with the SNCI recording.
My own records have always been sent to the site rangers on the understanding that they are to be passed on to the local BRC. I am painfully aware that this may not have happened, nor that the BRC has forwarded records to relevant groups.
I believe that the Ecology lecturer at Merrist Wood College, John Arnott, was/is a member of the BPGS. I anticipate many years of records from him as plant galls are featured on his syllabus.
'Tis a long old road! Many thanks.

Hello Scotty,
Re the second part of your message re gall records for Surrey, I am the
records data manager for the BPGS and I have just checked the database for
you. Unfortunately, the scheme has only recently got going and we only have
two records for VC17, neither of which are for oak galls. I know we have
members living in the area and a couple of these are listed as people who
record galls. If you would like to give me your address (feel free to e mail
me direct with this if you prefer), I will contact the members in question
and pass your request on to them. I wonder if you might consider passing
your gall records on to me eventually when you have finished your book?
Good luck with your project anyway,
Janet
