RE: [british_galls] Possible gall on Myrica gale?

Hello Jojanneke

Thank you very much for your efforts in researching web-links. Ecoport (the first link) 'looks' the most promising. The specimen I have is less circular and I have not observed an ostiole (but I am no expert, especially on mite galls).

I hope to make contact with Mr Gale, who is an expert on mite galls, in the near future. I am still searching for more specimens.

Thank you once again for your input and assistance.

Hello Scotty,

I do not have any pictures and I wonder if they are available anywhere on the
internet.

On some websites was information about gall causing mites etc on Myrica
species:

http://ecoport.org/ep?SearchType=pdb&PdbID=9416

and

https://kb.osu.edu/dspace/bitstream/1811/1819/1/V14N06_289.pdf

There is a fungal gall mentioned on Bog Myrtle on the site of the Nature Notes
from Skye:
