Re: [British Expats in Malta] Moving to malta

PS-
Are you going to visit before you come? Where do you live in the UK?
Would you be interested in sub-letting my flat over the winter break?

Dec 20th-31st...It is 1 bdr but has a big bed and I can get a small twin
matteress and somone can sleep on the couch... It is VERY centrally located on
the edge of St. Julians and Silema 1 block from the waterfront and very close to
all the shops and about a 40 min. walk to the school (and on the main bus
route).

I am POOR and would love to visit my friend in the UK over break! I could maybe
let you stay in my flat for a nominal fee and hook you up with a teacher or
someone who is staying for break to introduce you to the school and give you
advice?

It would have to be a secret from my landlord tho---you would have to be
relatives or something staying.
:)
Let me know asap!

Why are you moving here?
Some things are cheaper but most things are 3 times the cost of the USA price so
it would be 2 X the cost for you. I've been told most families of 3 spend 30
Maltese Lira a week in food but I am a single tiny person and am spending 25 or
more Maltese LIra and that doesn't count going out, bus fare, pharmacy stuff
(very expensive), cleaners (very expensive or shampoos and stuff (also
expensive). ....
Schools ! I suggest the school where I work which is Verdala International
school. DON"T send your kids to the Maltese ones...I have heard some people do,
but they usually take them out. The school at VIS is small and about to get
accreditation. It is registered with ECIS ...You can contact the head of school
--Adam Pleasance at vis@... . There is a web site but it is not very
detailed_ www.verdala.org.
I teach art. Do you want me to pass on your email to another British expat who
can answer more questions?

Could someone assist with my enquiry. We are thinking of moving to
Malta next year and our children are 18,14 and 11. Would state
schools all be Maltese speaking? Does anyone know how the cost of
living compares with the uk please?

Thank you
