Re: [British Expats in Malta] Planning to Move to Malta with Son - American single mom w/QUESTIONS

Dear Holly,

You sound like you are really enjoying life! You are able to live where you
choose and continue to do the work of your choice. I admire you for that!

And, I would like some suggestions and advice how I might follow in your foot
steps if you don't mind me asking.

So, when you have time, I would love to hear from you. Or, I can call you at
my expense. What businesses work well and suit your life style?

Peace and Blessings,
Deborah Livingston

I am not British but please don't discriminate! :) Haha. I am an
American woman - single parent with an 11-month old son. I am an
entrepreneur and have online businesses so I do not need employment
in Malta. I have some questions because my son and I plan to move to
Malta in about one year from now. We are currently living in Thailand
and I am looking for a place for my son to grow up - a country which is
safe, has a high standard for education, good healthcare and more. You
know, what any parent would want. I don't want to get into my life story
here or why I am in Thailand or why I am not in the US (you can
imagine anyway) But I would like any and all advice about making the
transition a smooth one. It may be 9 months to a year before we move.
I've been researching as much as possible online. I also have an Aunt
who is moving there as well and we will rent a place together initially. I
don't want to be in a 'party' area where the nightlife might be wild or
loud. I also don't want to live anywhere too rural - so a balance would
be nice. Any suggestions? And does anyone have experience with the
daycare systems? Josh will be about 2 years old when we arrive and I
would like him to go to daycare for about 4 hrs a day so i can get some
work done. Can anyone tell me approximately how much that costs and
if you recommend any places. I will write everything down so when we
arrive or beforehand I will already have some resources/options. And
what do people do for fun in Malta? I'd love to know the good, the bad -
etc. if anyone has time to respond and let me know what to expect.
Thank you so much and take care.
