Limestone versus breezeblock   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #366 of 622 |
Hello everyone. I was last in Malta during the wet weather in January
and the modern hotel in which I stayed didn't cope too well with the
rain! Enormous damp patches appeared on the walls and water even ran
down the walls and pooled on the floor. It should have been well-built
as the owner was a builder.

It got me thinking about new vs old construction in Malta, limestone vs
breezeblock. Looking at the new apartments and houses being built of a
single layer of breezeblock, it struck me that the construction wasn't
particularly suitable for wet weather and that it would provide little
insulation against the heat in the summer.

I'd be very interested to hear any of your thoughts on the subject.

Cheers, Grace
