Hello again!

We have sent our C.V's,etc to numerous Nursing Homes, etc,in Malta and
Gozo but no luck! Also to Heritage Malta. The only two replies we got
were from Nursing Homes that said "there are no vacancies and there
WILL BE NONE IN THE FUTURE"! (Quite a curt rebuff!)

We have got the impression that it is virtually impossible for
British people to get Work Permits. We just need some type of part-
time work. We have been told that the only work a Brit can get is a
job that a Maltese can't do. Does anyone know if this is true??? We
were told that any prospective employer ,has to first advertise his
vacancy and then only if no Maltese apply for it,can it be offered to
a Brit. One of us is 64 and will have the U.K. State Pension next
March. But it will not be enough for both of us to live on,bearing in
mind that we will have to pay a rent as well. So at least one of (The
Learning Dissabililites and Nursing home NHS qualified Nurse aged 54)
would have to find some part-time work that gives a Work Permit.

Another thing....if the Retired one doesn't work but tries to survive
on his pension, will he get Free Health Care? Or MUST you have a Work
Permit to get Free Health Care??? Neither of us could afford Private
Insurance.

Maltese can come to the U.K. and do any work they want! Maltese can
come to the U.K. and get Free N.H.S Health Care.

So please can someone clarify to us the situation when the tables are
turned???

We were planning to return for two weeks in the Autumn to have a
better look at prospects for part-time work. But if the "door is
shut" to Brits, then there is no point us coming.

PLEASE can someone sort all this mess out for us?

Thanks ~ Alan & Tommy (AKA Confused of Devon)
