Thanks Liz for all the trouble you have taken to give us this info.
We do realise that moving to another country is not easy. I moved to
Italy and lived there for 5 years and we have travelled a lot to
other places. Its one thing to go to a country on holiday and another
to live there! But we felt very sure about Malta and Gozo and felt
that we "fitted in" and felt at home there. But if it is so difficult
to find someone to give a work permit, even for part-time work,we may
be hitting our heads against a brick wall. We had thought about
coming back for 2 weeks in November but now we are not
sure.Anyway, thanks again for your thoughtfullness. Warm regards ~ Alan

government negotiated a seven-year period during which restrictions
can be imposed on the rights of other EU nationals to work in Malta.
EU nationals still have to obtain an employment licence also known as
a work permit before they can work in Malta, and although this is
normally granted, the government reserves the right to refuse
applications if it is felt that the Maltese labour market or
particular sectors of the economy are being threatened by an influx
of EU workers.
