Hi

I've been following your emails and your wish to settle in Malta,

Don't get too up-set as these are the rules, many years ago it was different
but you must remember Malta is a very small Island and the EU has given the
right to Malta to limit the amount of overseas workers allowed to take up
employment in the first years of membership, remember if Malta did not join
the EU you would have less rights of employment then at present.
Its not the difficult to gain employment as you think, as not all Maltese
will do your sort of work and many older Maltese don't wont to be looked
after by Maltese, it also goes the other way!, so put your ad in the times
and a few other papers and wait and see.

BTW why don't you try Cyprus and Spain,

Regards

Joe

Thanks Maureen!

Yes,we know that any U.K. citizens can settle in Malta BUT the points
you raise are valid!

HOW can we prove to the Immigration Dept.that we CAN support
ourselves IF WE HAVN'T GOT WORK????

I will get the U.K. State Pension next March but that wouldn't be
enough to live on would it?

And HOW do we proove we can pay for Private Health Care if we havn't
got work??? The U.K. State Pension wouldn't be sufficient for
private healthcare would it?

It seems to us that only wealthy retired Brits are welcome in Malta!
The complete reversal of things in the U.K where any Tom (sorry
Tommy) Dick or Harry can settle in the U.K whether they can support
themselves or not!

Sorry, but we are very upset about it and really think we may be
hitting our heads again a brick wall!!

We had thought of Advertising in thew Times of Malta but what is the
point if Maltese can do the jobs we can do? They will be given
priority naturally.

Anyway,I have had my moan and groan! Sorry! We are still looking
forward to visiting on the 14th November just for a holiday if
nothing else!

Best Wishes ~ Alan
