Well I've sucked my teeth over night and am STILL unsure quite WHAT
happened, but whatever DID happen has now unhappened. and the sock is
back ON again.
basically I sat there screeching like a complete NINNY for ages not
daring to get on with the shaping after the last disaster but decided
to pretend to be brave and have a go!
have MANAGED to get the shaping done.
and am on the foot.
4 rows IN and I discovered I'd gone to PURL .. AGAIN!?
WHY is this happening?
I had to sit throught Eurovision last night on account of no.2.son is
music-mad (I know. don't SAY anything. he IS only 11. is allowed to
think its "music").
and I found it went quite quickly.
in the end.
the programme I mean.
not the sock.
the sock went PAINFULLY and SLOWLY. on account of 4 rounds in I
chanced a glance away from the screen and onto the socks and HISSED.
unpicked the lot.
went back to the start.
and its all KNIT.
WHY is this sew?
am I a complete NINNY?
what can I possibly be doing to have this happen!?
now.
I've somehow in the excitement of getting a vote to take us off the
"last position" hurled my socks in the air and lost one of the little
rings marking THE END.
and gone completely WIMPY and can't work out where the end is. what
the end is all about. and frankly at the moment I don't care! I'm just
knitting like mad to FINISH the flipping sock!!
but I'm worried I might need to KNOW where the end IS when I come to
do last shaping at the toes.
I've got a pink ring to mark "before" and blue ring to mark "after".
will this be enough to get me through the last bit or should I give up??
aside from that hiccup, it actually looks like a sock and am hopeful
that is like the lingerie I sew, TERRIBLE the first one, gets better
next .. OR I shall have to find a dark cornered drawer!
