well I think there's one shot of me wearing a rather manky looking
faux fur scarf!
Mostly sewing/embroidery/quilting.
I don't have a blog but I do enjoy sharing my projects online with
other cyber-pals where I go under the name of "SewMadSue".

Quilting is my newest area of interest, I done two terms with Liz
Cornish at the MAC and joined a local quilt club in Shirley.

An embroidered jacket and several more pillowcases are in the camera
waiting to go up!

This is a mother and son business in Nottinghamshire and well worth a
visit if you are out for a day as there is quite a bit locally of
"interest" too.
I have not been to their new shop which I understand is larger than
their previous premises, but I have visited this shop personally and
can recommend it as a worthwhile visit - best take a friend to
restrain you from hurling plastic at them as their wares are VERY
temptingly displayed!!

They say they now stock a larger range of yarns including some of the
sorts that you don't see in the likes of JL or Beatties etc and also
includes sock too!!

The son is the artist and often works in the shop and has his work
displayed, the rest of the place is packed with things to buy, mostly
Americana prim/country style both things to sew/make up or to buy
readymade.
I came across them through another Delphi group that I co-mod where
they sourced a few of the items sew they are authentically from
America!! They knit at work and will help too and are VERY friendly
and welcoming, the website is quite good to navigate which will give
you an idea for whether to travel that distance.

If anyone has any other places of interest that stock things
knit/sewingly please post details as these days about the only
opportunities I get to go "out" is if I can CONvince the family its
umm a day out!! I understand there is a new place opened in Warwick,
unfortunately the family are sucking their teeth and blowing a bit
about a trip to the Castle - never mind eh!

Please do mention it to customers. I thought about popping into House
of Fraser and asking if they would publicise it for us as well. Maybe
we could also ask the shop in Moseley that Emily mentioned too?
I'll drop a line to I Knit London to see if they will put it on their
website. I think there may also be a list of clubs in the back of
Simply Knitting too; I'll check.
Any other ideas welcome too!

well it will make a change! ALL of my friends are called "debs" "ann"
or "sue"!! Now I shall be able to add "heather"!!! (well unless you
duck behind a table and HIDE when you see us approach!!).

Last night I finally sorted my knitting! I nearly took it back for a
refund on the remaining balls and cancelled the evening on Tues! but I
gave myself a good talking to when I saw the jumper that Sally was
knitting at work yesterday! I SEW hope she wears/brings it! it is to
DIE FOR! its like a sort of "pattern" kind of lace/fan/feathery, I
don't know the name of it, the neckline is unusual (I muttered a bit
about did she drop a few stitches .. ? but had to stop teasing, as
she's not QUITE used to my sense of humour as we only see each other
once a week at work and our breaks don't always coordinate!!). AND
she's put some unusual beads on it.
too bad she's tiny and skinny, or I'd have rised a P.45 and run out of
the door with it!!!! its gorgeous!!
anyway. I thought if SHE can do a complicted pattern while talking to
dozens of customers, the least I can do is manage a 2 row pattern AND
an eye on Desperate Housewives without going wrong!!
Its back ON! the knitting AND the meeting!!

Hope to see you Tuesday, look out for us!!
Susan.

Okay, just to confirm, three of us will be coming together on Tuesday,
we'll make our knitting prominent! if you SEE us, wave at us! grab us!
come and GET us!!
Another colleague is on holiday, she can make April, however.
One of my colleagues coming in March cannot make it until Sept
according to her work rota, we'll just have to see how it pans out.

Look forward to seeing everyone!

Postponing to the 27th suits me fine - was about to mail to say I can't make it.  I think having a set date in the month would be helpful to keep people on track.

I can make the 27th March and will contact my friends and see if they
can join us, I know that one of them is going away for a week but I
feel certain that she'll make the effort to come when she IS able to.

I would recommend keeping to a set date in order that people know when
to meet up, perhaps as we get to know each other, we can exchange
mobile numbers sew that if anyone is coming on their own and wants to
check there will be others there on a particular night you can send a
quick text.

Look forward to meeting up with everyone then, I'll look out for
"Ginny" too! ;-) at least we'll KNOW we are with the right group!
we'll have WOOL under our arms!! I started my project Sunday night
and got into the pattern quite well last night, although not a big
knitter these days I did wonderif it might be too complicated but its
not proving SEW far!

Oh dear.  I could make tomorrow but not next week (or the week after).  I have just got back from a weekend away and was all delighted to tell you I could make it if it was still happening.  If not, don't worry and I'll catch up with you all after easter.

This will be the last Tuesday of the month, so if it is a success we

Sorry Ruth, I think that tomorrow is too short notice for me to let
everyone know, I think I know where the Shakespeare pub is I'm certain
I could find it, if this is the proposed venue I can let everyone know
this as some of my friends don't visit Birmingham city centre very
often it will give a chance to get bearings etc!
Could you let me know the sort of times you are thinking of?

Sew far there is interest in coming along, and the girls sorted me out
with a new pattern and some yarn for a project too! which I started
yesterday evening after work!!

Also, are you proposing any format? for the group? or will you just

We tried a knit'n'chat which fizzled after about 5weeks due to lack of
continued interest vs effort of coming out at night and paying for
parking to sit with two people!

Good luck for tomorrow and do please all report in too!
Hope to meet with you all next time!

Hi Guys,

Sorry for the lack of communication over the last week, work has been
a bit manic. I am still proposing that we meet this Tuesday (20th) at
6pm in the Shakespeare pub on Lower Temple Street.

I haven't had a chance to go in and ask them if they mind us knitting,
but I am sure it will be ok.
I will be there hopefully a little before 6, depending on work, and my
mobile number is 07801 267668.
My blog is here: http://rooknittting.blogspot.com if you want some
idea of who you will be meeting!
If you could let me know if you are thinking of coming that would be
fab - Sue I look forward to meeting you and your colleagues!

Just sew I can be sure to be sat with the right group and NOT the
neighbouring office workers, when and where are we meeting exactly?

Three of my knitaholic colleagues want to come along too!! One is
Sally who is the local Rowan consultant and the other two are, Dee who
is my "rival" and Heather & possibly Gemma who are Haby Chix! at JL.
Its possible another couple of friends may come along too!

Looking forward to it!! I'm buying a new pattern (Patons wrap lacey
long line cardigan thingie in 100% cotton dk) in readiness as the
others are all knitting projects and I couldn't bring myself to come
along with another funky fur scarf!! Dee DID suggest I can be barmaid
and do all the running about, but like I say, she's my RIVAL and I
hate her very much!! (not!!).

Please confirm arrangements in order that I can let others know soon?

Hello! I live in Birmingham and work in Solihull, its just a thought
but Touchwood is open until 8pm and here in John Lewis we started a
"knit and chat" group, its POSSIBLE we could do something here if
anyone would like, I could enquire and see if we could meet instore?

After this term finishes, Tuesday will become a "free" day for me, I
currently attend a patchwork and quilt class at the MAC but don't plan
on continuing during the summer and while my dh goes out to play
snooker on a fixed 4 from 8pm, my children would be okay for the bit
in between my getting home from town to him leaving for snooker.

Can't promise I'd attend each week but I'd certainly come along
initially to meet up and get to know everyone and take it from there.

I'm mostly a sew'er these days but my friend was reinspired to knit
and her dd has really taken to it in a big way as has her young
grand.d too!
we are all going to the NEC and will be sure to look at knit related
stands!

Best wishes.
Gssue
ps I don't mind pub or cafe, prefer non smoking, might be on my own
sew can you wave knitting about sew I don't end up joining a group of
office workers or something!! I'll mention it to my friend too.

How about a week on Tuesday, 20th March? At about 6pm?
The Shakespeare also does food (although I haven't eaten there).
I could pop in on my way home and ask if they mind us knitting in there
if you like?

Hi All,

Tuesdays suit me perfectly. Have just called round, and the New St
Waterstones cafe shuts at 6, and the Borders Bullring one at 7.
Having spoken to my colleague Barry (an expert on all things
Birmingham) he says the Shakespeare is nice. Briar Rose is a
Wetherspoons so might be good for food for some after work.

When do we want to start?

Tuesday would suit me well. I don't mind if it's a cafe or a pub,
really, as long as it's no smoking - but I'll probably want a cup of
coffee rather than a pint!

If you get organised very quickly I may miss the first one - I am on
holiday next week.

Looking foward to this very much,

Good one, Ruth!
