THE LAND OF POLITICAL PRISONERS

Contents [ Please read on http://www.tayzathuria.org.uk ]

English Language Section

I. "War on Conscience "_ Editorial: Dr. Tayza

_ They may silence the voice of people by clamping down on media. They may shut up people's mouth by intimidation. They may lock up people's lives behind bars............But they cannot close down people's mind. They can never seal the people's conscience down under the shutters of fear.. ..........

II. "This is no Fiction"_ Narrative: Bitter Flower

_ They put him in a cell worse than a mediaeval dungeon. They beat him up day and night. They deprive him of sleep, water, food and medicines. He is paralyzed. He is seriously ill. He can't walk. He has heart condition. ………….

III . "Speaking with a Karen Leader"_ Interview with Padoh Mahn Sha

_ For the new capital's security, SPDC needs to clean KNU based in Toungoo, but this is not the main cause of SPDC major operation in Toungoo. The main cause is to abolish KNU and Karen people. ..............

IV. "To Thet Win Aung "_ Poem: Ko Moe Thee Zun

_ ………..a star born out of the darkness……… I thought you would come back to me soon after you crossed Hero River and confronted the darkness............

V. " Eulogy for a Martyr" _ Poem: Ko Ko Thett

_ Your tormented heart might have failed…To keep your chained body alive………Yet, in life or in death, you did not fail Burma.. .........

VI. " A Poem for Ko Thet Win Aung" _ Poem: Ko Mya Aye & Mya Than Nyunt

_ The white coloured Song of Peace………. Collected from among the searing scars on your back ... .........

VII"A Magical Picture: Min Ko Naing's Mother"_ Commentary : Dr. San Oo Aung

_ Min Ko Naing told his mother that he would be coming back in the evening and yet his mother is still waiting for him, as in his picture……….Like her, there would be a lot of mothers waiting............

_ I hereby request all of you, from all faiths, to stand up against the SPDC criminal Junta and take whatever necessary action you could take to punish them in Burma or in international arena............

IX. " No Way Out" _ Critique: Tai Samyone

_ ….……refers to a Scientific Nationalism which takes a lead from the Tatmadaw, likening Burma's development to that practised in China and Vietnam.  What this is leading to sounds remarkably like the 'national socialism' of Mussolini's Italy and other fascist states...........

X. " Education for Maung Setana"_ Satire: Aung Kyaw Soe

_ Maung Setana implies liberal representative democracy is not what Burmese wants and therefore all organizations in general and NLD in particular should denounce Daw Aung San Su Kyi...........

XI.  "Ten Reasons to Boycott Olympics in Communist China"_ Analysis: Demetrius Klitou

_ Human rights are practically non-existent in Communist China. Religious persecution, imprisonment and murder of non-violent political dissidents, torture, organ harvesting and sentences to hard labour are widespread............

XII. " A test of Chinese hegemony" _ Analysis: Bob Gould

_ ……descendants still living in northern Korea are regarded by the Chinese government as Chinese minorities. As such the lands that they have traditionally occupied are also regarded as a part of China. ...........

XIII. "The one so worried for Democratic Burma"_  Translated Analysis: Nay Yu

_ I have to say straight forward about my opinion, there is only one country in the world which is most anxious of Burma moving towards democracy, and it is China ...........
