We have been asked to help spread the word on this - please do pass
it on:

In April 2007, Brighton Animal Action has been given permission to
spend 6 days legally liberating 13,500 chickens. At the end of day 6
the slaughter vans will arrive. We need homes, boxes, drivers and
vehicles. If you can give a loving home to some of these chickens or
if you know someone who owns an animal sanctuary, please get in touch
and tell us the minimum you are able to take. If you can provide any
boxes to transport them in or if you own or can drive a large vehicle
to take the chickens from the meeting point to a sanctuary please
also get in touch.

Please help us liberate these chickens!

Behind the Mask has been awarded the best DVD of the year by VegNews

DVD of the Year: Behind the Mask <http://www.uncagedfilms.com>
Honoring a documentary about the ALF (Animal Liberation Front) was not
an easy decision for VegNews to make. Politics aside, the film, which,
as the title suggests, focuses on the people behind the mask more so
than their actions, succeeds brilliantly in telling the story of those
who are willing to anonymously risk their lives and freedom for
animals
(including farmed animals). Says director/producer/attorney Shannon
Keith, "I had to make Behind the Mask so that people could hear the
activists who have been voiceless along with the animals they save,
and
so that others could hear why these individuals are forced sometimes
to
extreme measures to save animals."

Evening all - i hope you are all well.

Firstly, i have an apology to make - i have switched the dates
around for the next event and so we are having our Christmas meal on
the 3rd December instead of a cookery demo. You should have all
received the email about the meal at the castle!

Secondly, i wanted to find out from you guys when you would like the
next event. I am happy to organise something late in December, but
am aware that this can be a busy and expensive time of year for
people... With this in mind, i am also happy to wait until the new
year for the next event. Can you please let me know what you think
so i can sort something out that suits most!

Thirdly, with events in mind, can you please forward me suggestions
of things you would like to see the veggie group doing. For example,
a cinema night has been suggested, as has a trip on the Waverly when
it starts again next year. Any other sugestions warmly accepted :-)

Those of you who recieve the vegetarian society magazine, i hope you
saw the article about the Cardiff & Vale vegetarian group! I will
keep sending articles into the vegetarian society!

Hope to hear from you soon

Cardiff & Vale Vegetarian Society Christmas meal
Cardiff Castle Christmas Banquet

The Cardiff & Vale Vegetarian Group Christmas meal will be on Sunday
3rd December at Cardiff Castle (in place of the advertised cookery
demonstration). The cost is £35 for a 4-course meal (obviously we
will be booking the vegetarian option), glass of mead on arrival,
wine or soft drinks throughout the meal, and festive entertainment.
Guests will include a mix of different groups and individuals and
will cater for up to 104 people.

"Enjoy a glass of mead when you arrive, then take your seats in the
15th Century Undercroft for a four course feast of hearty local
dishes. Traditionally costumed characters perform popular Welsh songs
and invite you to join in the fun. The whole evening is accompanied
by the enchanting sounds of the harp. The experience of great food,
warm hospitality and captivating music cannot fail to delight you and
make this a banquet to go down in history!"

Check http://www.cardiffcastle.com/banquets/welshbanquets.htm for
more details (please note the banquet is a Christmas banquet not the
advertised general banquet, although the only difference is the
entertainment has a festive feel!).

I need to book ASAP – they have very limited places available. Please
can you get back to me by Saturday 5th November (sorry for the short
notice).

Thanks

Bex

thanks for the suggestion Jay - i phoned the organisers and
unfortunatly they have no 'stall' spaces left. However, i have been
put on the cancellation list so we may be lucky. The lady who
organises it is a vegetarian too and was keen for us to have a
stall. The next show in Cardiff is in April and i have requested a
stall then.

Thanks again Jay

If anyone knows of any good vegetarian restaurants, cafes or veggie
friendly places, please add them to the database.

We also have databases for useful websites and recommended books -
please feel free to contribute to these databases too.

Thanks
