July 19, 2001 ReliabilitE-Flash Member Newsletter Click here to go to the Reliabilityweb.com Home Page Delivering Value to our Members Part of our mission at Reliabilityweb.com is to bring you information that can enhance reliability & maintenance at your plant. Reliabilityweb.com members report that their programs range from "No formal maintenance program" to very disciplined Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs. Most programs are somewhere in between. It is apparent that almost all programs have room to grow and improve. We have been searching the entire planet, talking to many experts and reading everything we can get our hands on in an effort to consolidate information you can use to develop and approach or access the resources that will take your program to the next level. We have identified five key elements that when implemented effectively, will make a major impact on your overall plant reliability. 1) An organized and disciplined
approach to Maintenance & Reliability program management As you surf the Reliabilityweb.com web site you will find all kinds of useful information relating to these subject areas. Some are brief and other are more detailed. Most resources include links you can click on to get even more information. We hope that we are meeting your need for information and we invite you to let us know how we are doing by clicking here. New Resources Maintenance and Reliability Program Management How do you determine what maintenance tasks will be performed? Does documentation exist that can support those decisions? Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) was developed to analyze and determine the maintenance requirements that would ensure ongoing function of a system. Many fine RCM programs exist today however, some have noted that the analysis and implementation process is too resource intensive. Planned Maintenance Optimization (PMO) was developed to meet the request of those who were determined to take a different path toward reliability than RCM provided. Click here to read Part 2 of the Planned Maintenance Optimization series by Steve Turner as he compares PMO and RCM in way we can all understand. Click here to read Part 1 of the Planned Maintenance Optimization series by Steve Turner as he explains the basic elements of PMO. There is no "One Size Fits All" approach to maintenance and reliability programs and we hope that you will find some useful information you can use in these informative articles.
