I'll be doing a couple of hours dropping leaflets on the tube trains tomorrow wednesday, starting with the good old circle line ! - from about 2pm and hopefully friday afternoon too.
It'd be great if anyone would care to join me - we could meet at the office and head for kings cross - we can really shift a load like this -give me a call if you're up for it :
The Campaign against Climate Change needs volunteer stewards for its big Climate March of the year. Please help us make the March the friendly safe and fun event it has been in previous years! There will be a briefing for stewards on the evening of 3 December, details to be confirmed (changed from previous date). If you would like to sign up please email: stewards@... - we look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks very much

Just to let you know that i have added about 15 people who left their
names on the North London contact sheets to this email list. I had
problems with 3 or 4 hotmail addresses (hotmail is rejecting traffic
from yahoogroups) so I have bcc'ed just this message to those people;
they will have to subscribe to this list themselves. There are now
about 40 people on this list.
Note Finsbury Park on this thursday; Kate send an email over the
weekend. I have read on the east london list that someone in East
London has already done a lot of leafleting at the Angel. It would be
really good if someone local to Camden Town could initiate some
leafleting there. That's been very fruitful in previous years.
Paula and Simon, the people organising the cycling leg of the day have
already done extensive flyering of cyclists and cycle shops etc. But
we can also leaflet cyclists, cyclists on cycle routes seem pretty
happy to accept leaflets that are only being handed out to cyclists and
supportive.
Should also mention that if you want to get more involved with the core
of the campaign, do please sign up to the ccc-london list
http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/ccc-london/ as well.

It would be really helpful if you could write to a member of the House of Lords
asking them to vote for amendments strengthening the Climate Change Bill.
Please see the email from Friends of the Earth below. The bill will become the
world’s first law requiring a national government to make specified carbon
emissions cuts. This will help campaigners abroad to put pressure on their
governments to follow Britain's example. This in turn could lead to a much
stronger successor to Kyoto, and thus reduce the devastation which extreme
weather will otherwise inflict with increasing frequency. If you can write to a
Lord, please do so in time for your letter to reach them by 26-27 November, when
the bill will have its second reading in the Lords.
We are optimistic that amendments to strengthen the bill will succeed because
two-thirds of MPs backed an Early Day Motion calling for a bill along such
lines. If the Lords pass such amendments this will help Labour MPs to resist
the party whips, and vote for the amendments when the Bill moves to the Commons
afterwards.
Thank you very much

HELP US LOBBY THE LORDS
We have just heard that the Government has made the unusual move of
deciding to send the Climate Change Bill to the House of Lords before
the House of Commons.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
We need to act fast and start talking to Lords over the next few
weeks. We would like your help so please write a letter to a Lord.

Hi All
Following Thursday's meeting we formed groups for
North, East, South and West London for lefletting for
the demo over the next month.
What I was left concerned about was who will take
responsibility for City and West End. Will West London
take on Westminster, though on past record there
aren't so many activists there.
As East London we can reasonably expect to do
Liverpool St. station and Old st. at some point,
though North might be happy to help out on the former
or even co-ordinate on the latter.
It seems to me we may want to keep each group informed
of possible 'cross area' actions. Perhaps these can be
posted on CCC London (and I'll forward to the East
London lot at least.

Hi
Peter and I will be on OneClimate island from 10.0 am on Saturday,
celebrating Live Earth Day virtually. So if you can't get to a local event
and want to avoid travel carbon, you'd be welcome to join us!
The invitation has gone out on Second Life, and so we hope it'll be a chance
to meet people from all over the world and chat to them (in voice if you get
the latest software download) about climate change. We'll also have the UK
concert on the big screen, plus a chance to try out the latest interactive
displays. But really it's about meeting people and sharing experiences and
ideas. Drop in any time during the day or evening.
If you are already into SL, then this is the link:

If you'd like to get started in SL, then you can download the voice software
you need here:

Then the sound works like Skype with a headset. But allow an hour or two to
get it all together and get used to moving round in your new virtual body.

We really need stewards for 6th April to help the demo run smoothly. If you are interested in stewarding please let me know. It would be from about 11-5 on 6th April.
We can give away the logo-ed yellow CCC jackets as an incentive to steward - so that shows you how much we need you!
Please email me back at this address: katetansley1@... if you can help. The normal stewards email seems to have broken down temporarily, though hopefully it will be back again soon.

Are any of you free to help with running a Campaign against Climate Change stall at Synergy tonight?
Synergy is an eco friendly night club near London Bridge. If you do this you get free entry to the club so it could be a fun thing to do with a friend or partner!
More information follows below, from Phil:

Goes on till 5/6 am but stall could pack up well before then. Probably first few hours are most important.....
Its under the arches - you know that road-in-a-tunnel that goes underneath the railway lines, just behind London Bridge Station.
Its a big mega-psychedelic space where the do synergy eco-friendlt nigt-club. Its a bit like an indoor festival kind of thing.......
If you are interested please call Phil at the office 02078339311 or 07903316331 .
If you are free tomorrow to help by stewarding it would be much appreciated. We still need more people! If you are interested it would mean helping out between 10 and 3. It will be a lot of fun working with lovely people!
If you would like to know more please email campaignccstewards@... if you are able to check your email reply before 5pm today. Or call Abi on 02078339311 or Kate on 07967 076218 for a telephone briefing.

Just to let you all know that CCC (campaign against climate change) has
booked the Square Pig pub on the south west corner of Red Lion
Square diagonally opposite Conway Hall for after event drinks starting
at 4pm. It is about a mile from Trafalgar Square, it has got a bit of
greenery outside and should be worth the hike.

Hi guys
Could people please specify by return and on the
activists portal who is covering which places i.e.
cafes, pubs, libraries etc. I know, for example, some
people are covering some places in Stoke Newington,
but its not clear. I could cover a number of places
but its really frustrating to go out of my way only to
discover someone else has already been there.
Also, is anyone interested in leafletting Finsbury
Park tube, Liverpool St., or others in NE London next
week after work, approx 5.30/6pm. I'm free most
evenings (except Monday I think there may be a demo
logistics meeting).

An Inconvenient Truth starts at the Rio tomorrow for a week. Me and Jeremy are planning to leaflet people as they come out, about 4pm and 8:15pm. I can do tomorrow (both times). Jeremy is planning on doing Tuesday and Thursday (and maybe Sunday and Wednesday) at 8:15pm. We will both do Monday at 8:15pm (as well as seeing the movie).

Phil has asked me to see if we can organise a leafletting date so we can make a big announcement of this at Wednesday's public meeting. The idea being that we can hopefully attract new people to help us and general kick start the leafletting!
Before, we have agreed on a couple of suggested places - Finsbury Park and Camden Town, though of course we can be flexible. Would anyone like to suggest a time and a place to meet? Then we can publicise it at the big public meeting in Conway Hall this Wednesday.
Please let me know

We also need to start putting leaflets in wholefood shops, community and other cafes, sympathetic cinemas and bookshops, pubs, etc., etc. And it would be really useful to know who is leaving them where (its really frustrating going out of your way to drop off some leaflets somewhere only to find someone else has already done it). It would be good if people would commit themselves to keeping stocks up until 4th November. Personally, I can detour to Chats Palace, Homerton, unless anyone else lives nearby or regularly goes close.
Kate, I can also do Finsbury Park sometime; also Seven Sisters, Manor House, and even Turnpike Lane was worth doing last year.

This Friday night, Inconvenient Truth goes to Outer London.
John Sinha and others are talking at the Phoenix, East Finchley and me
and some other FOE people will have i count and ccc leaflets to hand
out. It's the opening night.
Someone is doing the last showing (out at 11ish?) at the Islington VUE,
now in 2nd week, and she would probably welcome some company.

short term greed and vested interests and campaigns for the urgent and
radical action we need to prevent the irreversible destabilisation of

accurate and open approach. They do this by: i. Working local to
global; From 200+ local groups to 70+ Friends of the Earth
International groups - they are the only local-global environmental

problems - but finding credible alternatives. iii. Enabling campaigning;
providing information and tools so people can act.

passionate advocate for large- and small-scale changes in laws and
lifestyles that could help alleviate this crisis. AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH
records a multi-media presentation hosted by Gore in which he discusses
the scientific facts behind global warming, explains how it has already
begun to affect our environment, talks about the disastrous
consequences if the world's governments and citizens do not act and
shares what each individual can do to help protect the Earth for this

Great, what about if we arrange a time to leaflet in Camden and a time to leaflet in Finsbury Park.
Here are two suggestions below but feel free to suggest your own and also to arrange more amongst yourselves!
What about Tuesday 3 October at 6pm in Finsbury Park?
What about Wednesday 11 October at 6.15 in Camden Town?
Thanks
Kate
