Essential Eating Disorders
A one-day workshop for Counsellors, Psychotherapists & Hypnotherapists
This short course has been designed specifically for practitioners to learn more about eating disorders and the latest thinking about how and why they develop and evidence based protocols on how to treat them.
Topics which will be explored include:
• How individuals develop their relationship with food
• How to diagnose an eating disorder
• How to build rapport with clients suffering from eating disorders
• How to implement interventions effectively and appropriately
• How to integrate your existing skills into the treatment process
Programme
Morning Session (10:00am – 1:00pm)
The aetiology of eating disorders, predisposing factors and the consequences
Assessment techniques and determining client readiness for change
Afternoon Session (2:00pm – 5:00pm)
The therapist's role: overview of emotional and nutritional interventions
Relapse prevention

Richard Reid MBACP, MGHR, MISMA, Dip Integrative Hyp. Psych, Diploma in Counselling (UKCHP)
Richard is a professionally qualified counsellor, hypno-psychotherapist and mediator. He is also a member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) and the International Stress Management Association (ISMA).
He has trained with a number of professional organisations including the Centre for Stress Management, Regents College and the National Centre for Eating Disorders.
