Hi Folks!

Paul Best here! I have just joined this group.

Simon, I know you're out there.. I've just put the silver bass
strings on my Lewandowski harp, and even tho I'm bringing it up to
pitch very slowly, the results are very encouraging - the sound is
much stronger, and the "feel" is much firmer, even when tuned low.
How much more tension would the silver strings put on that part of
the frame, than brass? The harp is relativly slender-framed compared
to say the Queen Mary, or the Trinity, and I don't want to pretzel
it....

I'll appreciate advice from anyone on this list...I've recently put
a Fishman pick-up on the soundboard of my Kinnellen, so it can be
amplified. I tried a number of diffrent positiions and the best spot
so far is, about a third of the way fron the botton of the
soundboard, midway between the bottom and middle soundholes, and
midway between the stringband and the edge of the soundboard. I've
had to stick it on the front of the board (carved out box, solid
glued-on back) held in place with sticky tape and I want the best
sound possible before I fix it permanently. Anyone done what I'm
trying to do? Any advice would be appreciated.

Paul
