I had an e-mail from Frank Brown about Alan - text follows
"A couple of months ago Alan had a minor fall. Nothing serious and he
was not injured, but it shook him a bit. To cut a long story short,
he realised he could no longer live alone and he is now living in a
residential home in Bromley. The address is
"Sundridge Court"
19 Edward Road
Bromley
Kent
Tel: 020 8466 6553
You can phone that number and they will put you through to Alan.
Eileen has been to see him several times, and Tony, I think, and I
hope to get over on Tuesday to see him. He would be pleased, I am
sure, if you gave him a ring. And if you could manage to visit him it
would make a change from talking to the other residents, most of whom
are not on his wavelength (even if they are on any wavelength at all!)
I understand that there is, on the other side of the road, another
residential home, one specifically for musicians. It sounds like
heaven. They have a Steinway grand in one room and a Bechstein in
another! It is not easy to get into that home, but Eileen has been
making some enquiries on his behalf. A lot would depend on their
assessment of his mental and physical condition. They are very
friendly and Alan has even popped over a couple of times (accompanied
of course) to play the piano there."
I hope as many of us as possible will phone/send card/visit.
