The Lord Hood pub is in Creek Road Greenwich SE10, opposite the Cutty Sark DLR Station
It is rapidly become the jazz centre for South East London
The Thursday brunches are legendary with the resident Brunch Bunch led by George Bridges. Patrons can get good ale, fine food at great value, attractive bar staff and a great atmosphere. Admission is free from 12.30 to 3.00.p.m. Sitters in are welcome and Guest artists are booked from time to time, amongst whom have been Julia Farino, Campbell Burnap, Adrian Cox, TJ Johnson, Sky Murphy, Dominic Ashworth, Dave Moses and others.
Upcoming guest appearances will feature TJ Johnson, Sky Murphy, Adrian Cox, Julia Farino and Dave Moses.
On Thursday April 5th there will be an appearance of John Royen, famous pianist from New Orleans.
On Sunday April 22nd from 9.00.a.m. onwards the Brunch Bunch will be playing to an audience of 30,000 - all running away as fast as they can in the London Marathon.
The Lord Hood is a feature venue for the Riverfront Spring Jazz Festival which kicks off in the Hood on Thursday May 10th with guests Julia Farino(vocals) and Dave Moses (bass)
On Friday May 11th from 12.30 to 3.00.p.m. there will be a skiffle and blues session featuring Max Emmons (guitar) Trevor Hyett (banjo) George Bridges (bass) and George Murray (washboard).
Last year a crowded pub raised over £1000 for New Orleans musicians when six musicians from the Treme area came to play a storm at the pub, and John Richardson is bringing a 10-piece band over again who will be playing again at the Lord Hood probably on Tuesday lunchtime June 5th.
And that's is just the highlights of the live music at the Hood - with a folk session on Tuesday nights, modern jazz on Wednesday night, unsigned rock bands and Elvis on Saturday night, and a Sinatra-style open mike session on Sunday afternoon.
Get down the Hood when in town - there's a warm welcome for everyone.
