PROGRAM

The 1st National Conference on Animals will open with registration
from 11am on Thursday December 1st and an introductory session by
7pm. Formal sessions will begin by 8.00am on Friday December 2nd and
close at 6pm. Activities on Saturday December 3rd will include
visitation to media houses and excursions. The conference banquet
will take place on that same evening. Departure will be by Sunday
morning latest 12pm.

DAY ONE – Thursday December 1st
Registration and Introductory session
We will set a vision for the future of animal advocacy in Nigeria,
celebrate successes and draw upon the experiences of various animal
advocacy movements.
Keynote sessions will include:
The State of the Animals: Companion Animals, Farm Animals, Animals
in Research, Wildlife, Animals in Entertainment..... Where have we
been, where are we now and where are we going?
Case Studies of Successful Campaigns: Various groups will share
their experience.....What worked and what can we learn?

DAY TWO – Friday December 2nd
Formal sessions
The second day will focus on a series of lectures and workshops.
Various speakers will address the following sessions:
1. Fundamentals of Animal Welfare and Advocacy.
2. Humane Management and Responsible Ownership of Animals.
3. The rights of Animals: Identification and Legislation.
4. Managing a Zoonosis: Economic and Health Implications.
5.



DAY Three – Saturday December 3rd
Excursion, Visitations and Banquet

Places to which excursion will be made is still being worked on and
the media houses to visit. More details will be made known in
subsequent circulars.

Details for the Banquet will also be made later.

CONFERENCE DETAILS

Conference Date: December 1- 4, 2005

Conference Venue: The conference venue is Willy Hotels. 5
Akinwunmi Street, Mende, Maryland, Lagos for easy accessibility to
participants.

Accommodation: The conference will be non-resident. Thus, no
accommodation will be reserved for any participant. Those coming
from outside Lagos or outside Nigeria or those who may so wish can
however have the conference secretariat make reservations for them
at the conference venue. The procedure is for you to send the cost
for the 1st night booking for the reservation and then continue to
make subsequent payments yourself. Cost of these is #6,000 per night.

Transport Refund: There would be no transport refund
for participants.

Registration Fee: Registration for the conference is
free.

Feeding: Participants are to make their own
arrangements.


Conference Topics: We have received notification from
some participants to give
lectures, however any person or group that are still interested to
give a lecture still has time to notify the conference secretariat.


Call for Abstracts: Those making presentations are required to
submit Abstracts, no later October 1, 2005. This is to aid us in our
planning.

List of Participants: We have received various registration and
notification of persons to attend the conference, we want to appeal
however that you kindly send us your full name, phone number and e-
mail address. A list of participants will be included in the nest
circular.
