I have recently taken over from JL Hagger the responsibility for
producing the monthly diary.
As you will have, no doubt, noticed, there has been no diary for July.
This is due to some problems I have been having at home.
However, things are back to normal and I will be producing a diary for
the latter half of June, and by the beginning of August things will be
fully back on track.
Any items for inclusion in the Diary may now be addressed to me at:
franfeeney2003@...
Or telephone:
(01934) 833122
Thank you for your indulgence and many apologies for the hitch.
Frank Feeney

I have added a Petition to the Number 10 Web Site, asking the Parish
Council to erect a War Memorial in the Village. While there is a
Memorial Hall, there are no War Memorials as such in the village.
Please feel free to add your signature to this petition, which will
remain open for the next twelve months.

Thank you in anticipation of your support.
Very interested to see that the show is still going. I used to take
part in the 50's (Ann Ford). Norman Baker often used to win the Open
Jumping and my brother David was pretty handy at the gymkhana events.
In those days the show was at the ground on the Weston Road and was
quite the highlight of the year for pony mad kids. Patsy Cooke had a
dream grey pony and won lots of Junior Jumping.
Good luck to all for this years show.

Attached is the monthly village diary. I've sent it as a one-off to this Congresbury group. If you'd like to receive it every month, follow the instructions on the first page of the diary.

Can anyone recommend a local decorator who does a good job, doesn't charge the earth - and might be available for a few weeks work over the next month (it's asking a lot I know!)?
Hi,
I live a few miles away in the Chew Valley & am writing to ask if
anyone with local knowledge of Congresbury & surrounding villages &
the River Yeo could help?
I've been helping to edit some pages about Somerset towns and villages
on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/ the online encyclopedia which
anyone can edit.
I've done most of the work on the Chew Valley pages
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chew_Valley & included villages such as
Blagdon & Ubley, but don't know the area further west.
A notice has been put on the Congresbury_Yeo article asking for an
expert to expand the article with words & pictures etc
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congresbury_Yeo I've done a bit but don't
really have the local knowledge.
The page about Congresbury http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congresbury is
also a bit limited, & there is no page for Iwood etc.
If you could help with any of this it would be much appreciated.
Rod
Hi Rory,
Thanks for your message. When we started this group we did hope that
there would be a bit more intesrest.
But let's hope you might have sparked a revival.
Best wishes,
Frank.

Hi there
Its nice to know Congresbury is on the Web. I live in London and try
to come back and visit my parents when I can, at least I now have
another outlet for keeping up with whats going on in Cong.
Kind Regards to All fellow Congers!

i'll start a revolution?)
Hi Guys,
As an Expat from Congresbury although with many return visits
from Liverpool I and My father love to see the rest of the family at
the old farm in Smallway , opposite the garden centre on my
grandfathers farm land. My wife and I love to visit as often as we can
to keep in touch with the family.
Steve + Mavis Thomas.
I am a new member of this group, and I have joined because my family
lived and worked in Congresbury since 1840, up until around 1945. They
were the Lidbury family, and amongst other things, owned the bakery in
Broad Sreet (Causeway) from around 1874 until the 1920s. I am also
interested in the Sainsbury family, who were prominant in the village
at this time too. If anybody has any information on either of the above
families, I would be delighted to hear from you.
Dale
We are submitting the January Congresbury diary early, due to Christmas.
Please let us have any events for January tomorrow (Wednesday) if possible.
Thank you

Hi Frank. I'm compiling the diary for January - do you by any chance have
the updated Women's Institute programme yet?
Thanks
