Hi Folks, migrantmad2
7thJan'08
VERY quiet in Cornwall, did my first 'sortie' today, but an hour or more
too late! Ground and leaves had not dried out from early rain anyway.
Whatever, I saw ZERO Rd. Admirals or anything else come to that, still
not seen one since 12thDec'07 ! Although most of you will know from
other sites there have been a few (good) sightings well outside
Cornwall, all learned of today (and cribbed from other sources!). And if
seen in these 'other' places, why not Cornwall ?
I believe the latest ever Rd.Admiral in Ireland was seen on Christmas
Day, 25thDec'07 (via Ian Rippey, location Co.Wicklow). The latest
Rd.Admiral I've HEARD of in G.B. was on 30thDec'07 on the I-o-Wight (but
there MUST have been some Jan. ones, despite the weather !)
A PEACOCK was apparently seen, also on the I-o-Wight, on 30thDec'07 and
a CLOUDED YELLOW , also on the Isle-of-Wight similarly on 30thDec'07
(good day for the I-o-W !). All these thanks to Ian Rippey and his
'network'.
Perhaps most surprising was a SP.WOOD on New Year's Eve, 31stDec'07, not
'local', but at a windy Sedgefield wherever that may be ! Thanks to Nick
Bowles for that 'gem'. So there may well be something out there in
Cornwall needs recording !
Best Wishes, Roger Lane
