Have you all seen plans contained within the Hayle Area Action Plan
for an Outdoor Activity Centre at Phillack Towans? To quote:
"F. Outdoor Activity Centre (Phillack Towans)
This is a project aimed at developing an outdoor activity centre at
Phillack Towans. Although the project is still evolving, the current
intention is that the centre would be used predominantly as a team
building centre, but also provide sports and outdoor activities for
local people and visitors (e.g. All Terrain Vehicles, assault course,
archery, mountain boarding, and orienteering)."
Do we really want to encourage All Terrain Vehicles rampaging through
fragile dune ecosystems? Even if the plan is for a self-contained
site it sends a message that this is an OK thing to be doing and will
encourage others to treat the rest of the Towans as a playground for
quad-bikes, scramblers etc. etc. and mountain boarding - like snow
boarding without the snow, suitable for anywhere with steep-sloping
short-cropped turf.
Original deadline for consultation was 29th Feb but has now been
extended to March 25th. If you don't write in and express your
opinion the only opinion they'll be listening to is from the people
who want to build this.
Regards,
John
