Re: [Cornwall Moth Group] Any Moths?

Hi John

Much the same here in Torpoint:

May 16th one moth (although it was a Clouded Brindle 2327)
May 17th one moth
May 18th nothing
May 19th 4 moths of 4 species
May 20th 11 moths of 5 species (inc. my first 2061Buff Ermine and 1063
C.striana of the year)

Subject: [Cornwall Moth Group] Any Moths?

Has anyone been catching any moths recently? If so what sort of catches have
you been getting? Here in West Penwith it's been very poor again this spring.
Considering it's mid-late May and the weather at nights has been reasonably
warm, calm and dry this last week, all I've caught is the following:

May 16th - Nothing.
May 18th - 5 species, 6 moths
May 19th - 5 species, 12 moths (in two traps)
May 20th - 2 species, 2 moths

I know of 4 other traps being operated in West Penwith with a similar lack of
success. Are there just no moths out there any more? Is it just West Penwith
that's a mothless hell? Or are conditions just not as suitable as they feel?

Regards,
John
