Cornwall Wildlife Trust Volunteer has Googled Cornwall
Roger Driver, a Cornwall Wildlife Trust volunteer, has been working hard to
plot all 55 of Cornwall Wildlife Trust nature reserves for people to see.
He has done this using Google Earth which is an interactive, on-line, 3D
mapping interface to the entire planet.
Roger said, “Using photographs taken from space by satellites, you can zoom
in on reserves until, in some cases, you can see individual cars on the
street and boats in the water. I thought it would be a great project to put
Cornwall Wildlife Trust reserves on the map.”
Jayne Herbert, Web Manager for the Cornwall Wildlife Trust, says, “I know
this is a very time consuming project, but it is a great resource for users
of the Internet. I wouldn’t have time to do this sort of thing myself, and
am very grateful for the help of our hard working volunteers”.
The Cornwall Wildlife Trust web site is continually being updated and
improved. A brand new on-line shop has been recently launched and there are
lots of exciting plans for the near future.
