I am currently suffering from a flood of junk e-mail (spam) and the
date it all started seems to correlate with me joining this Yahoo
group. It used to be just a few messages a day trying to con me into
buying shares in US companies by giving me this 'hot tip' or
apparent insider information, no doubt the perpetrators were busily
selling shares in the same company and trying to get a good price
for them. Recently however this trickle of spam has become an
avalanche as my e-mail address is now being used to fake the
sender's address in spam messages and I'm getting all the returned
ones which were blocked or undeliverable. This has become so bad it
is rendering my e-mail account almost unusable and it will be a
considerable inconvenience to have to replace it with a new one. I
know I'm not the only member of this group who has this problem and
can trace it's beginnings to around when they first posted here, I'm
just wondering how extensive it is. Does anyone else suffer from
this and do you think it could be connected with using this bulletin
board? Let me be clear, I'm not blaming the moth group in any way, I
suspect this is a problem common to all Yahoo groups unless they've
taken special measures to prevent it. I'd like to suggest that
members don't use their main e-mail address for this group and
instead take advantage of the Yahoo address provided when you sign
up. Also if possible could the board administrator (Jayne?) prevent
our e-mail addresses from appearing on screen as tireless, devious
computer programs constantly trawl the internet for information such
as this which they can use. Its too late for me but maybe some of
you can still save yourselves from drowning in all this spam -
