This isn't normally the type of thing I'd post on this forum but it
seems likely to be of interest to forum members and is relevant to
conservation.
It's a letter from BugLife (the Invertebrate Conservation Trust)
which was posted on the AES Members' Forum and speaks for itself.

Dear All
We now have 1913 signatures on a petition to save West Thurrock, as a
result of our campaign we have been invited to meet with Tony Blair
and Hazel Blears tomorrow, it will be great if we could reach the
2000 mark by then. So if you haven't signed our petition then please
do visit www.buglife.org.uk and sign up.
Thanks to everyone who has signed up, your support is enormously
appreciated.
All the best
