Hi John,
Here in Marsland I'm surrounded by trees but results have still been
very hit and miss. Numbers are well down compared to last year but
species count of 21 macro and 8 micro is okay, despite Pale Brindled
Beauty and Satellite still to show. It's interesting to note that if
attempts had been restricted to just 3 nights all the recorded
species would still have been accounted for. January 28th is a good
example and got things off to a good start. The Saharan wind systems
had warmed things up and produced 12 species including an early
Engrailed and the added bonus of 8 Euchromius Ocellea.
Despite the temperature falling a notch tonight and provided the
skies don't clear, then a smaller moon coupled with lighter winds may
produce.
Steve.
