The quick answer is yes, we can accept membership subs by PayPal.
The webmaster comments as follows -

IF it insists on a membership number (can't honestly remember without
looking at the code - for which I do not have time right now) ask him
to put in "9999"."
Can you let me know by PM how much you sent for the membership sub
and when you sent it and I will check it with the Membership
Secretary. I am afraid we have not yet got the information flow
between PayPal receipts and membership records working as well as it
should.
