Are they? 5 wasn't, the last time I looked. And I seem to recall
that 9's valve allows it to make an emergency application, but not a
service application, so I wouldn't really call that properly air brake
fitted. True, 8 has the correct driver's brake valve, but I wouldn't
fancy trying to pull the skin off a rice pudding with 8, never mind a
full 5 TR passenger train!
