Congratulations JP you are now the 7th person to pull out of this weeks dive!

I suspect the chances of getting persons to fill up to number 7 are very slim but for the rest of you we do have 7 spaces available for group bookings/parties etc

 Just to point out
When dive spaces are available they are communicated to group, skipper and forums (except when I am ill and was not able to do that)
At the beginning of the week we had 1 space with a potential person to fill it.  The other spaces have become vacant in the last couple of days through people dropping out.
Several of our dives have had spaces and all have been advertised with very little response from outside and no response from inside the club.
I understand there are reasons in these difficult times for not wanting to spend money on dives and it seems to be a problem affecting all clubs.  However we have several members who would prefer to go on other dives rather that club dives.  I understand that if the club is not organising the sort of dives people want then we should change our dives to reflect that.
Earlier in the it was suggested to me that deeper dives are what a section of the club would like and accordingly I have organised some.  The take up has been negligable (less than half the boat full at moment) and it has been those people who reguarly support the ocean and sports diver dives who have taken the places.
Well thats my rant over for today
Chris

Hi chris

Thanks for the explanation

I assume that since it is one week to go those who dropped out will be paying for their spaces not the club

I do recall being on boat when the skipper was turning down people saying he had no space the next day with glorious weather when you hadn't even contacted him

Perhaps if you are too busy why not delegate to individual dive marshalls on the day? Seems to work very well for the sark and france trips....

What spaces and dives are left for the balance of the year?

Rick

Yes all those who pulled out will probably end up paying the club will not be paying.

The day you are talking about was the time I was ill.

Individual dive managers tend to be me or Alan Glen.  Alan has less time to organise filling spaces due to his work than I do.  On the trips Paul Brown often kindly takes over from me when I am not on them but this is not possible on the day trips (especially when you don't have too many on it too start with)

Rest of year:

19th July Kerryado for DL's 7 spaces
2nd August Alaunia SD's 6 spaces
16 August Braunton SD's 6 spaces
22 August Littlehampton SD 3 spaces
19 September Littlehampton 2 spaces
3 October Littlehampton 3 spaces
10 October HMS Minion 5 spaces

Thats about where we are

I have someone who is interested in the dive on the 2nd August that we have down as the Alaunia, but this is usually an Eastbourne wreck, it's do-able from Brighton, but it's a 20+ mile run. Can you confirm that this is definately what we're doing? If not we'd still need to do something to the East - eg Blanefield, Braunton, Ashford, Mira, Vasco or there are a number of marks in a similar depth that are unknowns.

Chris

Congratulations JP you are now the 7th person to pull out of this weeks dive!

I suspect the chances of getting persons to fill up to number 7 are very slim but for the rest of you we do have 7 spaces available for group bookings/parties etc

Hi Chris,

Noticed that eventually a post was put up yesterday only on Yorkshire
Divers at 3pm in the afternoon for a dive happening this Sunday - would
suggest its a good idea to give some people more time

You have also had one person personal messaging you on that site I assume
to respond - it also helps to respond once posted otherwise it gets lost

I havnt seen anything on the BSAC forum on the BSAC-SE email list but
perhaps I missed them; they were always good places to fill boats when I
was doing the job

Best regards,
